Posted on June 19th, 2019 By

St. Andrew is having a blood drive on Sunday, June 30th, from 8AM-12:30PM, in St. Andrew Hall for our two young parishioners battling cancer.

Avery Alfortish (8 years old – current SAS student) is battling a cancer known as Medulloblastoma – a type of brain cancer. He was diagnosed in June, 2018 and already has undergone intense chemotherapy and relies on transfusions.

Lauren Cooke (20 years old – former SAS student) was diagnosed in April, 2017 with non Hodgkin’s Periperal T-cell Lymphoma. After being in remission, Lauren’s cancer returned in December, 2018. On Tuesday, May 21st, she had a bone marrow transplant form an unrelated donor. Transfusions are a critical part of her medical recovery.

Please consider donating blood, the goal is 40 blood donations.

St. Andrew the Apostle received the Blue Ribbon School of Excellence honor

Posted on October 16th, 2013 By

St. Andrew the Apostle School recently embarked on the Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence journey which included surveying all stakeholders, a school visit by the Blue Ribbon School Review Team, and focus group meetings with students, teachers, and parents. After a three-day visit in September, reviewing essential survey and school data, a proposal was submitted to a committee at Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence. St. Andrew the Apostle School is pleased to announce its recognition as a 2013 Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School of Excellence.

The Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School Award is a recognition program for schools of excellence. Schools are identified and selected for this award based on achievement of excellent performance in all nine major categories of the Blueprint for Excellence assessment. St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic School will be honored in an awards ceremony at the annual Blue Ribbon Schools Blueprint for Excellence Conference in December.
